After the launch of Women on the Move Network during the Transport and Climate Change Week in June 2021, the Network is pleased to invite you to join the next event at the first ever ADB Gender Forum to the only transport session. As part of the Forum, a Women on the Move Knowledge Lab will take place on Thursday, November 23rd through ADB’s event platform and Zoom. View the full Forum schedule.
Transport is largely still seen as a field for men, with only ~20% of the workforce being women despite knowledge that women make up half of the population and have different travel patterns and considerations. This underrepresentation inevitably leads to gaps in how mobility services are delivered – an issue we would like to tackle by ensuring that gender is mainstreamed in our work.
The session will start with a short introduction of the importance of mainstreaming gender in transport and our Network's objectives. It will then have speakers share their experience on gender assessment for projects in Asia, followed by open discussions with the audience. The speakers will include Patricia Mariano and Carolin Bernhard from GIZ, as well as Apart Vijaykumar from WRI.
If you have any questions about the Network, please contact Pat (patricia.mariano@giz.de) who is in charge of the coordination of the network.
