EVENT RECAP: High-Level 14th Regional EST Forum in Asia – Viet Nam’s Statement
The High-Level 14th Regional EST Forum in Asia was organized during October 18th-20th, 2021. During the event, Mr Le Anh Tuan, Vice Minister of Viet Nam Ministry of Transport (MOT), shared Viet Nam’s vision towards a carbon-neutral transport system. He hoped that experts and international organisations taking part in the Forum would be an important bridge to promote cooperation, transfer technology, and mobilize resources to facilitate developing countries, including Viet Nam, to design a smart and carbon-neutral transport system.
Peer Network for a Sustainable Transport Transition in Asia
GIZ has been cooperating with partner countries on decarbonising transport for more than a decade. Building on this long-standing engagement, GIZ has initiated the “Peer Network for Transport and Climate – Asia" under the roof of the NDC Transport Initiative for Asia.
EVENT RECAP: EST Forum Pre-Event with Highlights from the Viet Nam Hub

The event started with a vision for fully decarbonizing transport by the Council for Decarbonizing Transport in Asia and introduced futures thinking as a powerful new approach to policy development.
EVENT RECAP: Progress Update Meeting with Vietnam MOT
On 21 September 2021, the NDC-TIA Viet Nam component organized a Project update meeting with the project owner: Department of Environment (DOE), Ministry of Transport. DOE acknowledged that this was the very first meeting with adequate representatives from DOE, GIZ, WRI, and ICCT to review the essential project progress, access the difficulties during implementation, and discuss the coordination mechanism among stakeholders.
